After leaving Flaming Gorge, we rolled into Pinedale, Wyoming and settled into our campsite along Fremont Lake. With a full day in Pinedale ahead of us, we started the morning with a peaceful walk around the CCC Ponds near our campground.

Fremont Lake Campground was the reason Pinedale felt immediately good, with the lake right there and the Wind River Range doing all the background work.
Fremont Lake itself was the visual anchor of the whole stay and the obvious place to finally get the kayaks out.
CCC Ponds became the repeat easy stroll spot, good for birds and a softer counterpoint to the bigger-mountain scenery.
The museum added the frontier history thread that gave Pinedale more identity than just a pretty base camp.
Pitchfork Fondue was the memorable one-off dinner stop that made the stay feel distinctly Wyoming.
