Quick Take

Monument Valley is one of the defining landscapes of the American Southwest, where towering sandstone buttes rise from the desert floor along the Arizona–Utah border. Our visit included sunrise views from The View Campground, a hike around Mitten Butte on the Wildcat Trail, a Navajo-guided backcountry tour to arches and cultural sites not accessible on the public road, and a stop at nearby Valley of the Gods before continuing north toward Colorado.
