Colorado Springs Down Day

4 / 5
After all the red rock views at Garden of the Gods, we took a down day in Colorado Springs. Laundry, errands, and a few quiet hours organizing photos and notes from the road. At a nearby park, we spotted a wild turkey pacing along a net fence, clearly intent on reaching the other side. The irony was hard to miss. A large hole in the net sat just a few feet away, but he kept marching back and forth, completely unaware.
I had flashbacks to my backyard chickens. Same determined energy. Same questionable problem-solving skills. With my chickens, I can step in and redirect them. With a wild turkey, you just watch and let him figure it out. We waited for a bit, but left before seeing the finale. Did he get to the other side, or is he still pacing the fence?
