Destination Guide

Why This Stop Matters

Biloxi was supposed to be an easy Gulf Coast reset: a campground at Davis Bayou, a good seafood dinner, a little lighthouse-and-beach wandering, and an evening kayak with a park ranger. Instead, it turned into a quick coastal sampler with one eye on the sky and an early exit ahead of severe weather.

Best for

A quick Gulf Coast mix of national seashore marshes, seafood, and classic Biloxi landmarks.

Trip vibe

Campground calm, beach-town wandering, and then a weather plot twist.

What surprised us

The Biloxi Visitors Center really is that fancy, and Davis Bayou feels much more marshy and tucked away than a beach stop.

Davis Bayou at Gulf Islands National Seashore

Davis Bayou gave us a quieter side of the Mississippi coast, with marshy water, campground life, and the kind of park ranger conversation that nearly turned into an evening kayak outing.
