Orlando: Moss Park and a Concert Night

1 / 2
Orlando was one of the few stops on this trip that wasn’t planned around nature, though we still found plenty of it within the city. We arrived late afternoon and set up camp at Moss Park, a quiet Orange County campground about 30 minutes southeast of Orlando, tucked between Lake Hart and Lake Mary Jane. The next morning started slowly with coffee by the water, watching a pair of sandhill cranes guiding their baby along the shoreline.
We spent the day riding bikes and walking the trails through the park, surrounded by moss-covered trees and saw palmettos. The weather was perfect, right around 70 degrees, which made it easy to take our time and stay outside most of the day.

Concert day followed the same easy pace. That night we went to see Alan Jackson on his final tour. I was a big fan during his heyday in the 90s, and he gave a great concert. I sang along to all my favorite songs and loved every minute of it.

Moss Park ended up being the surprise highlight. Peaceful, green, and full of wildlife, it was a reminder that even a city stop can deliver plenty of nature if you slow down enough to notice it.
