Cedar Breaks was an unplanned high-country stop between Great Basin and southern Utah. After a roadside history break in Milford, we explored the monument's rim at Point Supreme, walked to old bristlecone pines on Spectra Point Trail, attended a geology talk, and stayed for the night-sky program.

Milford Historic Park is a small outdoor collection of railroad, mining, school, and town artifacts. It provided a useful stop between Great Basin and Cedar Breaks and a compact introduction to the area's industrial history.
Point Supreme overlooks the monument's half-mile-deep amphitheater of red, orange, and pink Claron limestone. The visitor center, ranger programs, sunset views, and dark-sky events are all concentrated along this high rim.
Spectra Point Trail is a short rim hike with continuous amphitheater views and access to a grove of bristlecone pines more than 1,500 years old. We also saw mountain bluebirds and a Cassin's finch along the route.
