Sugar Pine Point State Park sits right on Lake Tahoe’s western shore, and when we arrived, we came prepared to stay awhile. Camp chairs out. Picnic lunch in hand. We settled in by the water and just watched the boats pass by.
Eventually, the clock caught up with us. We had booked passes for the Hellman-Ehrman Mansion, which officially ended the lounge session. Also known as Pine Lodge, the home was built in 1903 as a summer retreat. Inside, the rooms are heavy on wood, stone fireplaces, and original furnishings. Around the main house, several outbuildings remain on the property.
After the tour, we wandered the grounds a bit more before calling it a day. One last time by the Tahoe shoreline before packing up and moving on.
