Colorado Springs Travel Day

1 / 5
As we were leaving Cañon City, we decided to try one more time for the gondola at Royal Gorge Bridge & Park. The park offers next-day free admission if your ticket is validated before you leave, so we knew getting back in wouldn’t cost us. I really wanted to ride the gondola across the canyon. We called ahead, but no one answered, so we drove the few miles out to the park. The wind was better than the day before, but apparently not good enough. I went inside to ask. Gondola still closed. Bummer. We accepted defeat and headed toward Colorado Springs.
When we arrived in Colorado Springs, we stopped at European Café for lunch. We ate outside on the patio on a perfect 70-degree sunny day. The café specializes in Polish entrées. We enjoyed stuffed cabbage and pierogis, then finished with crepes for dessert. Simply divine.

That afternoon we checked into Norris Penrose RV Park. There’s no option to book this campground online. You have to call. We secured a full hookup site in Colorado City for $35. Not too shabby.
